The concert was this last September at the Nokia Center, and I was primarily stoked that I was going to see the Satch live. What a bummer! Who would’ve though that overall, Chickenfoot, could’ve gone a few miles past my wildest expectations on a live show!!! :o )

Let me see if I can recap in a few words: Avenida Revolution ROCKED as the opening cut; Sammy Hagar has more stamina @ 60 than me at 30; Chad Smith can carry a beat like the best of them -proves there is no need for a monster drum set; and Michael Anthony was spot on -though overshadowed by the fact I much rather focus on the short, bald guy wielding that Chickefoot logo’d six string guitar rather than a bass player.

This is a highly recommended live gig. Catch ‘em before they really retire!

The so called super-band comprised of guitar virtuoso by excellence, Joe Satriani; Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen) on vocals; bassist Michael Anthony (another Van Halen jewel); and Chad Smith on Drums (Red Hot Chili Peppers anybody!) released their first album (I’d like to call it project, but who knows, maybe there will be a follow up some day) Chickenfoot on June 5th this year.

The verdict so far: I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT! It’s not overly complicated, sounds very clean, and its got balls. This is the kind of hard rock fusion I like a lot. And I am pleased to say that this round up of star musicians seem to work very well together, not overshadowing each other but rather complimenting their abilities.

Let’s see. Let’s start with Chad Smith: this guy can put up with Flea, he can do anything. He sets out the groove very nicely throughout the entire album. Joe Satriani: he’s there. Not the flamoyant, electronic-fusion-techno musician, but rather the Summer Song Satch that I love. Very rythmic, very powerful. Michael Anthony does what he’s supposed to do: set the tempo with Chad, and he does it without drama. And last but not least, possibly the most underrated singer of the 90′s, Sammy Hagar: always hidding on David Lee Roth’s shadow, criticized over his shot tenure with Van Halen, and in my opinion, far more capable -but less of a showman / showbiz type guy- than DLR. Nevertheless, these guys put up an act, and I can’t wait to see them touring!

My opinion: DOWNLOAD or BUY IT NOW!!!!
